Baszucki imagines an NPC learning to play Roblox games, then modeling a consenting user’s behavior, and perhaps filling in for 15 minutes when a child wants to play with a busy parent. He gave “no ship date” and answered “zero right now” when asked what proportion of children will have a serious AI relationship; he also imagined less-invasive coaching or therapy use.
Roblox is betting, at least for a while, on a modular, cloud-native AI stack rather than an all-in-one generated-video world model. Its likely pipeline combines multiplayer synchronization, dedicated NPC systems, 3D upsampling, local 2D upsampling, and possibly world models; creators could leave agents running for 24 hours while 20 NPC testers exercise client emulators. Baszucki expects leverage, not disappearance: “the human touch has got a long runway on it.”
Cheaper generation does not automatically improve game economics because consumer quality expectations rise alongside production capability. Roblox’s cloud architecture could turn assets into prompts, dynamically serving low or 4K levels of detail and upsampling primitive worlds into richer styles on demand. Meanwhile, top creators already earn well into the tens of millions a year, including figures in the 30-million-plus range, and average yearly revenue for creator number 1,000 is growing faster than for creator number 1, suggesting a broadening commercial base despite intensifying competition.
Baszucki pairs a long-duration thesis with weekly iteration and a deliberately nontraditional talent filter. Roblox acquired Imbellus and tests tens of thousands of people through 3D problem-solving exercises, largely ignoring university prestige in favor of demonstrated problem-solving and creativity. His AI posture is tempered: he emphasizes time and compounding over a single amazing invention, while noting that graphical user interfaces and Excel can remain useful for 40 years.
